About this calculator
A percentage is a number expressed as a fraction of 100. A% of B is A × B ÷ 100. A as a percentage of B is A ÷ B × 100. The percentage change from A to B is (B − A) ÷ |A| × 100, so a rise from 20 to 150 is a 650% increase.
Worked example
20% of 150 is 30. Going the other way, 20 is 13.33% of 150, and a rise from 20 to 150 is an increase of 650%.

Frequently asked questions
How do I work out a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 20% of 150 is 150 × 20 ÷ 100 = 30.
What is the difference between percentage change and percentage points?
Percentage change compares the new value with the old one. Percentage points are the plain difference between two percentages: going from 10% to 12% is a rise of 2 percentage points, but a 20% increase.
