About this calculator
Each letter grade is worth grade points on a 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 and so on down to F = 0). Multiply each course’s points by its credits, add them up, and divide by the total credits. Some schools use different scales, so check yours.
Worked example
An A (3 credits), B+ (4), A− (3) and B (3) give 45.3 quality points over 13 credits — a GPA of 3.48.

Frequently asked questions

A straight-B record is a 3.0 GPA on the 4.0 scale.
Do courses with more credits count more?
Yes. GPA is weighted by credits, so a 4-credit course counts more than a 2-credit one.
